Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to address a variety of emotional & physical problems. It has healing benefits for the body & can rectify imbalances in emotional well-being.
The aromas evoke feelings, bring back memories & allow us to release endorphins, as our sense of smell connects to the limbic system, the part of the brain connected to emotion and memory.
This is why essential oils have such a powerful effect on our moods, general state of mind and well-being, helping to calm anxiety and relieve stress and it is this action that makes aromatherapy candles invaluable in helping long term conditions like anxiety and stress.
We only EVER use Soy Wax, this combined with a wooden wick that gives a hint of a crackle when burning and our specially developed blend of essential oils, delivers our range of Aromatherapy Candles. The CALM* was our first development but is not suitable for nut allergy sufferers, so we expanded our range to include the RELAX which IS nut allergy safe.
The CALM* recipe was developed in 2013 for one of our Miniature Dachshunds, Poppy. Poppy was an adorable, yet incredibly highly strung little dog. At seven years old she had a stroke and was diagnosed with very high blood pressure; despite being medicated for this condition, she remained a stressed and nervous ball of fluff! Bonfire nights, cars back-firing and storms would be our worst nightmare and would render us helpless in comforting her and alleviating her anxieties.
It was at this stage that we decided to look into aromatherapy. We researched the calming properties of essential oils and, after hours of mixing, testing, and even more mixing, we finally got it, our recipe known today as CALM*. We put this into a candle and the CALM* Candle was born!
We found that by burning the CALM* Candle for approximately fifteen – thirty minutes every evening for a three week period leading up to Bonfire Night, Poppy would be sleeping soundly through the loudest of bangs, whizzes and thunderstorms – truly this was a miracle that we never thought would happen!
*CALM IS NOT SUITABLE FOR NUT ALLERGY SUFFERERS AS IT CONTAINS NUT OIL
